cannot disable sids tips

Ok I know there is an option to disable Sids Tips in the menu. I have checked this, but the tips remain.
I have searched the config file too and cannot see any option to disable them.
I have disabled all popup and unit recommendations too.

It feels like the game is being played by Sid, with me just here to press the keys, its boring.

Please, how can I fix this?

If you remove the cross from the box labled "Sid's Tips", this should stop him. On the load screen choose "advanced" then "options". If you've already done this and they still appear, then something is probably wrong with your installation.

Are you sure you're not confusing Sid's tips with the popup help or unit recommendations? Make sure those options are disabled as well
