The boosts to Expansive and Organized make Mehmed look a very tempting leader. I mean, they already had a strong synergy:

Cheap granaries + lighthouses = fast city growth
Cheap harbours + courthouses = cash cow
Cheap harbours + lighthouses = seaside star

    Oh, and Mehmed himself has:
Agriculture + The Wheel + Expansive = head straight for pottery

The cheap workers will go very nicely with all of that. The cheap factories... well, they can't hurt.
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

I was hoping that the patch would allow you to give cities to a vassal. I know this may appear odd but often if you are miles bigger than your vassal you may want to either return cities or gift them to allow them to grow.Sometimes you have to capture more cities than you wished to force capitulation or a city may be so close to their capital that it isn't viable and has no squares to work.
The return/gift of cities would of course be linked to a rapid improvement in attitude.

I was hoping so, too, but I guess we'll have to figure out another way...

        Otherwise, again

Returning cities to a vassal is easily exploitable. Upon rebuilding your army and infrastructure you could return enough cities to allow the capitulated civ to renounce your protection and then annihilate him.

why wouldn't you just annhilate him while you were still at war with him then?

On the topic of Organized, the power of courthouses depends greatly on map size. On the smallest maps just 4 ciites will have your economy bleeding out and dying, in a way organized cheap courthoues are most useful on the smallest maps because the upkeeps ramp up much faster than your cities can develop, but I do find that the civic upkeep is more significant on larger maps.

Anyway it's important to remember that when people refer to "3" or "10" cities or any number, the significance of that number depends nearly entirely on the map settings they are thinking about. I usually like to use the metric of devoured neighbours, like Organized is great if you've devoured a neighbour... altough I find Organized is always useful unless it's OCC.

In terms of cities with abysmal production (not abysmal cities), every city which isn't 90% ice/desert will eventually turn a profit, this "eventually" will come in about 1/3rd the time for Organized, making org a lot better for spamming more cities. And having more cities is ALWAYS a good thing, since cities are invaluable in war (they are pop just waiting to be abused into units).

Alexman, Solver, what about compatibility of this patch with the current Warlords games, including pbem & pitboss ?

                  Thanks.

SP saves from the old versions work for me. I'm not sure about PBEM/Pitboss, but I would assume the same is true for them.

I'd say 27th of this month. They would not release the change log if the patch was not ready.

This patch is going to make a huge impact in the current gameplay. Well done Firaxis and specially Blake.

Grrr, the downside of this is that now I'll be pushed down to Chieftain or less once more. Back to civ strat academy.

No longer possible to bombard a city with zero defensive modifier
When could you do that? In fact it'd be great if you could do that, I hate it when I attack an enemy civ, move in all my siegers, bombard it down to 0% defence, then wait another turn, it's at 0% that turn and I don't quite finish the attack, and am unable to do anything to stop it getting back a 2% defensive bonus the next turn...
