Are there any players on this board who think they are top 100 in the world, but are not a part of the myleague.com/civ4players league?

That's a very subjective question. The league players tend to play only one kind of game, as one chat room scion pointed out "WEEZ oNlY PaLY QUICK BlaZin!
I would argue that in a Quick and Blazing game it would be a different player that would win, if compared to a Marathon and Normal type game.
I would also make the argument that you are not a good player if you have to use the same civ every time. It doesn't really take a lot of skill to do a high speed praetorian rush with Caesar, and if that's all you can do well then you certainly are not "Pwnning n00bz" at Civ 4.
Also victories always come via war. It would make more sense to shoot for a single victory type, (cultural for instance) to see who is truly the better player at managing their cities.First Master, Banan-Abbot of the Nana-stary, and Arch-Nan of the Order of the Sacred Banana.
Marathon, the reason my friends and I have been playing the same hotseat game since 2006...

What defines a good civ player? I've only ever played one multiplayer game in my life (which I won :P), so I'm not even gonna pretend that I'm good at multiplayer. I lack experience, and my usual strategy is definitely not compatible with multiplayer. I could probaby adapt it, but that'd take some time to learn.
But I am very good at singleplayer. I've been able to beat the game at the highest difficulties since civilization 1.
So what defines a good civ player? Only multiplayer skills? I hope not!

MGT also goes by the name Eyes of Night and StarLightDeath. So it would be nice if a mod could delete anotehr double/triple login...
oh, and GT, you still didn't report that loss from the duelYou just wasted six ... no, seven ... seconds of your life reading this sentence.

I am only speaking about multi player.
To be completly straight forward. I am looking for any players who think they are top in the world at any specific option they choose. If you have a certain combination of options ( anything goes) that you feel you are top in the world at. Please State your Civ 4 lobby name and the specific options you feel you are the best at. """"""""""""Anything goes """"""""""""

Out of curiosity, why? Do you consider yourself to be among the best players and want to play against others of such level, or is there another reason?Solver, WePlayCiv Co-Administrator

I hear that NubianMercenary is an excellent player, MrGameTheory. I should take him on with Mansa against his Shaka if I were you.Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

StarLightDeath?
I know that name. Wasn't he the one who bragged endlessly about his gaming skills, and challenged the forum to a duel? Which he lost, hopelessly. He then continued to blame a lack of resources for his loss, even while he clearly had a superior starting position, and his lack of resources was only because he failed to hook up half of them, and even the AI would have placed its cities better.

By the way, reading that thread again I noticed that I asked for more maps that could be played with the balanced option. This made it into the expansion. So I guess I owe Sirian a thanks

I read every post on all 9 pages... Some really classic stuff there.

EDIT: and, since I didn't get a chance to say this in the other thread... Chess has chance in it as well. For those that have played how many times have you setup an attack and hopped your opponent wouldn't see it? His inability to see your attack is part skill and part luck.
Every game there is has luck.
