- Native American scenario (like Mesoamerican Civ III; not completely historically accurate, but fun).
- Rise of Islam, 632 to 1000. Include battles with Charlemagne (Iberia), conquest of Italy, Persia, and western India.
- Middle Ages, a la Civ III. Enjoyed that one.
- War of 1812, both in Europe and in North America. Separate scenarios. North American one can include split Iroquois factions, Americans, and British.
- Southeast Asia, 1200 to 1850. Khmers and Indonesia are dominant at first. The rise of Vietnam, Siam, and Burma.
- Liked the Colonization idea.
- Rise of Assyria in the Middle East, or Persia later.
- African partition, 1885. Include European powers, as well as Egypt, Ethiopia, KwaZulu, Ashanti. Kind of Colonization for the Dark Continent.

What about a colonization style scenario? The colonization of America I mean, of course, like in the game colonization.
You can play either as an European power, trying to colonize America, or as a native American tribe, trying to hold your own.
Europeans start significantly more advanced, but with barely any population, and no effective methods of producing food. Native Americans start with huge well built empires, but much less technology, and they will lose 10% of their population each turn due to foreign diseases for the first few turns

And the crusades aren't a touchy subject?
Meh, maybe so, but it's a cool idea. Perhaps you could play as Saladin (a la the AoE2 scenario) and boot the crusaders out of your beloved land. Or as a crusader faction trying to get yourself installed as King of Jerusalem. And there could be scripting stuff for holy relics and what not.

1) Inspired by Darsnan's avatar... Star Wars scenario! At the age of the old republic. The Jedi, the Sith, the Mandalorians..
It might be too difficult to get a permission for it from Lucasarts?!
2) Steampunk scenario! No combustion engines... all steam baby! Trains, zeppelins, huge ships...

Like that movie starring Jude Law, the name of which I forget. Alternate modern histories are fun (and their wars would be, too).

I think that might offend muslims since it would involve expansion by conquest.
Strangely enough, when the Arabs conquered the Middle East, Persia, and Egypt, they didn't force conversions on the populations (unlike us Christians). They just introduced a "non-Muslim" tax, where everyone was taxed equally, but then, if you weren't Muslim, you were given another tax. People grew smart and decided to save some money, so they converted. Islam was thus spread throughout the Middle East and Egypt. Pretty ingenious... didn't inflame the natives. You were allowed to practice your own religion, it just cost more.
I wasn't trying to be offensive, but I do understand your point. Maybe a cultural conversion scenario? Though I don't know how it would work...
