  • Does War-Wariness Vary?

    2 questions regarding war-wariness:

Does the unhappiness 'counter' climb slower if the enemy declared war on you rather than the other way around?

Also, does it matter if it's a defensive war (units are in friendly territory) instead of an offensive war (units in enemy territory)?

It seems to me that the answer to both is 'yes' but that's just my gut feeling based on minimal observation. Does anyone have evidence for or against?

    Thanks,

I don't know if it directly varies in that regard but I do know that cities you own that have the same religion as the civ's state religion your fighting suffer extra unhappiness.

And cities you own with the nationality your fighting also get extra unhappiness, in proportion with their foreigness.

These two additional unhappiness does appear to be more likely to come into play if your actively taking over cities.

Also, In Civ III, the answers were yes (initally negative WW resulting in less unhappiness roughly equalvient to 10% luxary tax) and yes (enemy causalities in friendy territory don't count against you)
