... but with intermittent disconnections. We can play about 5 to 15 turns without a player being dropped, but it ends up happening. Who gets dropped seems fairly random.
Our current setup is:
2 computers in a "lan", one with an internet connection and sharing it. One other computer is a few hundred miles away. We play Direct IP.
Our previous setup was:
2 computers in a lan, connected by a router, the router has an uplink with the internet connection. Again, one other computer is a few hundred miles away.
Oh, and we've ripped out all the firewalls just to be sure because we couldn't connect to anything until everything was gone.
Is this just the normal way of life for Civ4 multiplayer right now, that is, you can connect but expect frequent disconnects? I have a feeling that as the turns get longer, the 5 to 15 turns between failures will drop to 1 to 5 or so. Yes, we're able to reconnect fairly easily, however it is rather time consuming depending on the computer that gets dropped.
Oh and HI APOLYTON. I haven't posted to you for a while...
