  • Please reassure me.

There is a patch in the works isn't there. It's been awhile and there hasn't been a peep about it. There's not alot of bugs to fix but there are a few, and I'm hoping that Firaxis will include more content, gameplay changes, that they didn't have time to implement for the official release. Really hoping in fact!

(This forum needs a Prayer smilie.) We do have an icon available in the game after all.

Alexman has mentioned several things that will be in the patch, mainly to do with vassal bugs. They are probably compiling video issues as well, which could be delaying things (as well as other projects).

I can't imagine a patch would not be in the works.

Well either can I, but there's been so little discussion about it after all this time, that I was beginning to doubt. I'm guessing we'll be seeing a fair bit of content seeing as how it's taking so long. As I said, there weren't that many bugs, it's certainly not like the original game, so it shouldn't take them too long to fix things.

Are they going to fix that sound bug? Or is everyone expected to mod their files or turn their sound effects down?

I don't understand all this anxiety about the patch -- it will come when it comes, though I also would like it sooner rather than later. Firaxis rarely gives advance notice of what is to come in a patch or expansion because they don't want to give out info that might not actually be included.

You all know this from Civ3 experience, so ... chill out.

Somehow I think that one obvious bug that is easily corrected with one XML value change will be part of a patch.

Do I sound like I'm getting upset? Having been a beta-tester for patch 1.61, I realize that it might take some time and go through a few renditions. I just thought it might be time for some discussion, seeing as how no one has even mentioned the topic for quite awhile. In fact, I think this the first thread that's been started on the subject.

I'm also curious to know what version number it's up to now, and I was hoping that someone in the know might be able to tell me.

Still 1.61 for vanilla. The bets are 3 or 4-to-1 that there won't be any more patches except for Warlords.

Sorry, I did take it as your sounding upset. If you weren't feeling that way, I apologize.

Well that's a given. With Warlords out, support for vanilla Civ is over with.

A little impatient, yes. Upset no. I realize these things take time, especially after being part of the process. I would like to get on with modding my game however. There's a bug that prevents me from doing something that I want to do.

Plus I'm curious to see what will be added. In the first vanilla, IIRC, they added Marathon mode, which was a great thing for me. I'm hoping there'll be something in the first Warlords patch that will do the same for my game. Plus maybe some new content that they didn't have time for in the official XP.

Marathon speed, the only speed I play.

Now, if I try to play any other speed, my pacing is way off. I'm playing a game of marathon Solver's way, with unit builds at 300 and techs at 400. Interesting, but I don't know if I'll play more games that way.

Same here. When I first got the game, I was a bit frustratred at how fast it went. Even Epic was too quick for me. Marathon put it at the right pace for me.

There will be a patch, but not before October.
We would have liked to release it earlier (it's ready), but there are scheduling conflicts with our QA.

Yes, thank you for keeping us informed. Too bad we need to wait so long, but I'm sure it will be worth it.

BTW, your web site says that Railroad Tycoon will be released in September but my local EB Games says it won't be out until late October. Which do I believe? I'm looking forward to that one, I'm hoping you can return the appeal that the original game had for me.
