  • Four science from University of Sankore!!

Did I miss something here or is this a bug? I had assumed that the +2 beakers was for state religion buildings in ALL cities not just in the city of the wonder. Otherwise, the wonder generates barely more science for me than a specialist scientist (and fewer GPP) and the maximum that it could produce would be 8 beakers (in the holy city with shrine).

No doubt someone else will have seen something like this before.

It is in all cities (with state rel buildings).

    Post a save.

I think he means it is all state religion buildings in YOUR own civ that contribute to Sankore science.

I did not have the problem with Spiral Minaret before and will soon see if this has the same problem.

        I can post save tomorrow

          Call me stupid.

          No! Please do!!!!

I realised that the +2 beakers is not all given to the city that builds the university but is allocated to each city according to its own buildings.

Yes, that's right. Same way as the spiral minaret with commerce.

I know this because I got confused by exactly the same thing the other day.

That was actually the plan. I had thought of it as being a “selfish” wonder-build (a bit like Great Library or Globe Theatre) where the benefits of the wonder only applies to the city that builds it – and then get the Academy/OU etc benefits.

Now that I know otherwise, I can see that it can be built anywhere and now have to wonder why it is that my hammer poor shrine city has wasted so much time building a Spiral Minaret when it could be building something more useful.

Problem with building wonders in lower hammer cities is the AI may beat you to it even if you got the tech first. This becomes more likely the higher up the difficulty level you go.

And that’s another thing. The cities in question are two of the four cities I have where culture is completely irrelevant to me. I’m now going to have to play the game from scratch right up till the time where I get to build those wonders and put them somewhere with decent production and near the borders.

The one significant benefit to both of them is the fact that the GPPs are compatible with the ones that the cities are already producing.

yeah I thought the same thing, I suppose it means we don't have to build them at the commerce/science cities but DAMMIT I WANTED TO :P

I love getting the university of Sankore AND the Spiral Minaret, since the university by itself tends to send me into a frenzy of building state religion buildings. It almost makes getting Divine Right early in the tech tree (almost...).

Something interesting about the University of Sankore. When I went free religion in my last game, I noticed that my Confuscian buildings no longer produced the light bulbs, and my net science output went down!!

That does not happen with the Spiral Minaret IIRC.
