  • Are we still discussing Vassal issues ?

I recall a thread pointing out vassal issues to be fixed next patch ?

Anyhow... just breifly my issue I had yesterday :

I was Russia, friends with India. India had China as a capitulated vassal state. China initiated diplomacy and asked me to renounce my trade with the evil indians.

    fyi

I guess those chinese were pretty P'Od about capitulating, so they decided to rebel against their owner?

I dunno, but it doesn't seem unrealistic.

Not really, but there is no mechanism for India to punish them. I should be able to tell India of what it's vassal was doing behind its back and that should be a 'deal breaker' allowing India to resume war or something. As it is they are stuck protecting China even when china works against him behind his back.

Who would become a vassal of India? Was it Asoka?
"They'll protect us with their...uhh, Fast workers!"

          Random Personalities can do wonders.

Like make Asoka a tyrannical, war mongering SOB.

Yes actually it was Asoka.... and not random personalities. Just the way it goes sometimes.

Nobody ever said that the personalities set were permanent.

I'd like to be able to buy/ sell vassals. In my last game (Playing os Tokugowa for the first time, hoo boy ), I invaded Mali and a few turns later he went crying to Egypt and became his vassal, dragging Ramses into the war. However, all I wanted (At that point) was the Christian Holy City and Timbutku (HUGE number of food resources), but their running to Ramses meant I could never capitulate them. Then the exact same thing happened with India, turning what would have been a minor land grab into full-blown genocide. And each time Ramses came crying to me for peace giving me gold and techs.

Also when you're a master of a vassal, and you recapture cities of theirs from the enemy, you no longer get the option to return the city to them. Which is kinda backwards, because the ONLY time I would ever give someone a city is when they're my b*tch! In fact the entier city-giving option is removed from vassal relationships, I wonder why...

I imagine city-giving is disabled with vassals because you could use it to forceably break up or not the vassalage. Either you could give him enough cities that he has more than 50% of yours, or you could give him cities while he loses other ones to keep him from losing 50%.

It would be kinda interesting to try this. Give your vassal a bunch of crappy islands and arctic trash cities, then when the vassalage breaks, take the core of his empire. Forced cultural relocation
