  • Graphical glitches in Warlords' menu and banners

    Hello,

I am experiencing some graphical anomalies in my Warlords game. First of all, the barbarian on the main menu screen is covered in purple/pinkish dots. There are a lot of them all over his face, but there is an especially large smudge of pink on his cloak (under the arm holding the sword). Also, when I begin a new game, the edges of the screen (around the loading screen) have the same pinkish colour.

Secondly, and far more annoying is the fact that the units' banners of the new civilizations are not displayed properly. While the banners of the original game's civilizations look like they should, all the new ones lack symbols of any kind. For example, the Viking and Zulu banners are completely black. Korea's and Carthage's are white. The Ottomans' banner is completely yellow and the Celts' is green.

These graphical glitches are not game-breaking in any way (other than this the game runs fine for me), but I would still like to see them go away.

I have never installed mods or additional files other than the official patches to my Civilization IV game. Also, changing graphic setting (from high to low) does nothing to remedy the problem.

My videocard is a GeForce 7600 GT (256 MB DDR3). I have the latest drivers from Nvidia (released June this year).

Has anyone else experienced these problems or does anyone know a solution to them?

    Thanks a lot.

Often the white flags (or in your case, multi-colored) glitch is a side-effect of some mods, but somewhere I think there is one for the main game too.

I do not think it is a matter of graphics or video card resolution, it probably has something more to do with an actual game bug that does not display colors correctly.

    Some things to consider:

    - Is it a legal copy?

    - If you have tried to install it on another computer, does it work then?

    - Is your computer virus free?

I'm sorry if these are all silly and irrelavent questions, but sometimes they can make the difference.

      Yes it is.

      - If you have tried to install it on another computer, does it work then?

I have only one computer that can handle the game.

      - Is your computer virus free?

As far as I know it is.

Hmm, intersting. I the only problem I have had with Warlords is that when I mouse over something it doesn't always display what's there.

My original message contains the answer to you questions already.

The first thing you should do is isolate the problem: computer, or game.

The cheaper way to do it is ask a friend if you can install it on his computer and see if it works, the expensive way is buy another warlords copy.
