  • A couple of questions

    Here are my questions:

    1) Is there a locate city feature in Civ IV that I don't know about? Trying to find cities on a large map can be quite annoying.

    2) How easy is it to tweak the game so that rail travel is again instantaneous?

    Thanks,
    * Robinson

    1) If go to your domestic advisor click on the icon left of the city name it will bring you to the city screen.

    2) The file is Civ4RouteInfos under Misc, but it makes no sence to me so I'll someone else tell you how to do it.

      Yes, but if you exit the city screen are you near the city you were looking at or are you in the same place as before?

      I often want to find a city because I want to see the land around it. The city screen doesn't help me.

      Oh, and I don't have a copy of the XML at hand or I'd try and help with the railroad thing. But remember, instant for you means instant for the AI too.

        I'm used to the instant rails from the early Civ games.

        As for the city locate, sometimes I want to know where a city is so I can send my missionaries there. Speaking of religion, is there any significance to the two lists of cities in the religion screen?

          Classic Accounting Question: what's the difference between a debit and a credit?

          Answer: one's on the left, the other's on the right.

          It's just a space issue, there's no significance at all.

            The two lists of cities in the religion screen confused me aswell, I spent ages trying to find out the difference between left and right!
            So there is no difference..... Oh well!

              It's easy (once you know how)!!

              Press F1 (city list);
              Select a city (just one city); Press 'C' to center on that city;
              Exit the F1 [esc], press Insert (opens city screen of city closest to middle).

              I don't use that icon to the left of the city name. By centering on the city first, I have a reference as to where the city is (which is handy when you have 30+ cities).
