  • how to enable de Civ4 maps&mods to Civ4Warlords?

    Hi, I've just bought Warlords.

Can anybody tell me how to convert the severals maps, scenario's and mods to Warlords? Or must we have some patience till some smart guy/girl can do this?

    Thanks for some advise.

You can change scenrios to warlords just by changing the file type, so it would be scenaroname.civ4warlordsworldbuildersave or what ever.

Mods though are a different story from what I've heard.

      Thanks for your reply.

Though with windows xp it's not that easy to change the extensions. I've tried to, but with no result.

      This is what i've done:
      start->configuration->mapoptions/=>
      wd/ filetypes
      Civ4WorldbuilderSave CHANGE to CivWalordsWBSave

When I opened the file i came to Warlords main menu but i could'nt find the scenario.

I did something wrong but I don't know what. Any suggestions?

        Jean,

I think you can't easily change file extensions because you can't see them in windows explorer. Revert the changes you described and follow this procedure.

In a Windows explorer, go to the tool menu, click on folder options. Then select the "Display" tab, and uncheck the "Hide known file type extensions" checkbox. Given your name and flag I assume you can speak french, so I've joined a french screenshot to illustrate.

        Hope it helps.

You don't need to do any of that, you're changing windows settings, you should be changing the name of the file. Just find the file you want to convert to Warlords, copy it to the Warlords folder structure, right-click it, click 'Rename' and change the extention from .Civ4WorldBuilderSave to .CivWalordsWBSave. That should do the trick.

Yes actually you DO need to do that.

Windows by default HIDES the extension that you say must be changed. If the extension is hidden you cannot change it.

After setting windows to display extensions for known file types you will then be able to change the extension as required to make the map/scen work in warlords.

That's not what Jean de Brabant is describing in his post, which is what I was responding to. I'm not even sure what he's describing but it appears he's changing the file association settings, i.e. telling Windows .CivWorldBuilderSave files should be opened with Warlords rather than with Civ4.

If Windows does indeed hide the extensions, you do have have to change that as per Max's instructions, but in most cases it only hides known file types so I'm not sure that would be an issue here.

I'm not at home to say for certain (night shift sux) But I think CIV 4 does register file types making the extension 'invisible'. I could be wrong though...

You're right diemex: CIV4 register extensions. Thus my post and my instructions.
