Warlords & Vanilla savegames compatibility

Hi guys,

it seems that Warlords won't load old vanilla saved games. I'd like to load a few of my best vanilla games in Warlords in order to update my HOF, which is desperately emptyat the moment.

Any idea how to do this ?

Try this:

Rename the file extension from .CivWorldBuilderSave to .CivWarlordsWBSave

Nope, game crashes when I do that from a v1.61 saved game (can't do much newer, can I?)

Saves are not usually fully compatible between vanilla and x-pack. Even if it works (same with patches) you often see glitches.

That works for maps, not for saves.

DrSpike is right, the saves for Civ4 and Warlords are simply not compatible.

Well I remember being able to reload saves from CIV3 vanilla in PTW, and from PTW to C3C.

Anyway is there a way to modify the Hall of Fame in my CIV4 to update it manually? Where is it stored? XML?

They were loadable but with no guarantee of compatibiility. Many reported odd AI behaviour and other odd occurences when doing so.

Finally I've found a way to update my poor Hall Of Fame in Warlords based on my richer one in Vanilla. HOF appears to be the collection of Replays you've got in
"My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Replays". I copied all of them in "My Games\Warlords\Replays" and guess what?

THAT WORKS!!! My Warlords HOF now contains all of my vanilla scores. I feel better that way.

Now I've got to beat them with Warlords, especially for domination victories that will be acquired quicker thanks to this new capitulation feature. This should ensure a bigger score too.

Also you have to rename the extension to .CivWarlordsReplay from .Civ4Replay.

This also gives me a way to get rid of that accidental duplicate hof entry that's been bugging me.
