  • Is anyone getting homebreed mods to work at ALL, I'm not...

I tried a simple mod to begin translating my old mod to the Warlords. I placed a copy of the Warlords unit xml into a mod folder in the right place. Then changed one value. It is not showing up in the pedia at all. And now I get all sorts of xml load errors with everything else I try.

    What gives!?!?

Hmmm. I don't believe the link provided really gets to Dearmad's question. Or at least, I have more questions along this line.

After picking through the Diplomacy text files (fixing grammar, spelling (less vs. lest, for example) and so forth) I'm beginning to get the impression that Warlords is using some amalgamation between the vanilla files and the new Warlords files. This kind of makes sense anyway, considering WL (have we come up with a sensible abbreviation yet?) is an expansion.

Nevertheless, I am wondering if anyone else is coming across the same things? Certain XML files used in WL seem very much to be the vanilla versions (some of which remain modified by me earlier, and those mods are functioning in WL).

Much of the WL XML files are noticeably truncated. This too would indicate the game is using some, or some parts of, the vanilla XML files. For example, there is no DIPLO_DECLARE_WAR defines in the Warlords' diplomacy XML. But this value is still referenced by other WL files.

Another question. Assuming I am right in my suspicions, does WL use some, or some parts of, the stock vanilla files or does it use the custom assets vanilla files?

I am now going to implement my resource mods and my distillery building into the expansion. I'm sure I'll uncover more as I do this.

I'm starting to understand this relationship.

I'm going to elaborate a bit as I uncover things, but I figure I should do so in the Creation & Files forum. Specifically, in Dearmad's thread: http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...hreadid=155354
