  • Yeah, Shaka can be a pain pre 1000AD, but after 1000AD he is much less of a threat. Mansa is easier to keep onside, but if he is pissed at you he is a threat for longer.

    • Agreed
It's almost as if all his overconfident, absolutist assertions were spoonfed to him by a trusted website or subreddit. Sheeple

      • : Yes, but it really depends on various aspects: Players ability (liking) to agrresive civs, dificulty level (if your playing against AI), map geographical pros and cons...

For example: Shaka would not excell on a island map, mainly because the Zulu in civ4 are very expansionistic, in other words they prefer a huge "Pangea" type map in order to expand purely upon warfare (conquering) ).

        • In both the games I played the two civs shared a continent with three other civs. Mansa was sharing with two AGG and one PRO civ while Shaka had two PRO civs (one of them Tokugawa).

The latest game saw Shaka and Mansa as neighbours on a nice big continent with six civs. But some of those seem to have been severely hampered by the opportunity to expand: Peter had southern tundra/ice (expanding into Brennus – Me – and Cyrus), Mansa had north tundra/ice expanding towards Shaka, and Monty had a small peninsula linked to main continent by jungle.

Shaka seemed to have used his advantage over Mansa and by Mediaeval times declared war while I was finishing off taking a bite-sized chunk from Monty. Since Shaka was a neighbour and forever demanding things, I figured it was about time to help Mansa and teach Shaka why he should concentrate a little more on his technology (or get Elephants).

              • : Well, according to couerdlions' game, Shaka does 'seem' to have the advantage in warfare, hence Shaka is better (in that map which includes Mansa) at war-faring against other civs.
