So, instead a barb spawn you get empty huts with no barb option.

Barbs were a lot more common out of goodie huts in Civ 3. Now, you mostly get an actual goodie.

True. That means the code is there, in the python somewhere, to eliminate barbs from the "dice roll" when revealing huts. It seems like a simple fix to engage that code, or duplicate it, for use when no-barbs is engaged.

I suppose. But that's not really my point here. As I've already said, if goodie huts are supposed to provide something everytime, then they should do so regardless of what options are selected. That seems logical to me.

It's certainly not a big deal. And I'm not complaining, per se. This just seems like a "hole" in the coding, that's all.

Neah, that sounds fair to me; it means that even if you turn barbs off, goodie huts still give you something "good" the same percentage of time they normally would; which is probably best for game balance reasons and such.

Weren't there "officially" empty huts in previous Civs? CTP had them, atleast... Something like "no trace of people that once lived there..."

Yeah, civ III had empty huts.

Yep, CtP had them too. And SMAC.

SMAC has no empty pods (huts). Some of the results aren't very helpful, but every pod yields something.

Civ 3 had a lot of empty huts, especially if you went into one in the modern age with a modern armour.

The fact that these other iterations had empty huts makes their existence in Civ IV with no barbs more bearable. I have since turned barbs back on and have not come across any more empty huts, so that was definitely the issue.

Think of empty huts with 'no barbs' as the 'bad' setting for huts. When everything else yields a positive, the empty one is the net negative ... as there's nothing else 'bad' they could do, except destroy your unit

Yeah, if they took away the empty huts, it would nullify one of the major advantages of using scouts when playing with no barbarians.
