How does a Civilization's 'favourite civic' impact the game?

As far as I can tell it determines the AI's likely civic choice and it's attitude towards you if you don't share it. Is this right, and is there any advantage to adopting your civ's favourite civic apart from this?

That's right, yes. The AI is more likely to run its favorite civic choice, may ask you to adopt it, and will be happy if you're running that civic.

'Favorite civic' is just the civic preference of the AI according to what civ, depending on what civics are available.

There are no advantages or disadvantages to picking your civ's corresponding 'favorite civic.' It might be interesting and a bit more fun, though.

Note also that the AI may ask you to adopt a civic which is not their favorite civic.
