Universities required to build Oxford

In a game with standard world size, normal game speed and emperor difficulty, it takes 6 universities to build Oxford.

Apparently on a huge map it takes 8.

Does anyone know how many are needed on other settings?

I think the basic is 4 on tiny, increasing by one for every couple of difficulty levels

I don't think difficulty level matters, it's just map size.

Yup, it's just map size dependent. Once you can build it just hover over it in the city build mode and it will tell you how many you've built & how many you need. It's also the same number of Banks you'll need for Wall Street and Theaters you need for the Globe Theater.

In addition, the city you wish to build this sort of National Wonder must have the building as well.

6 on normal, 7 on large, and 8 on huge map sizes. It's the same number needed for other similar things, too. You need X courthouses to build the Forbidden Palace, X banks to build Wall Street, and X forges to build the Iron Works.
