  • Question about terms in leader article..

    I read the article about the different leaders and am confused about some of the terms. I have some idea on some of them, but could someone please explain these?

    What is a dagger civ?
    What is a castle civ?
    What is a builder civ?
    What is a choke?
    What is a sledge?

    Any others that I forgot would be helpful too. Thanks!

    Dagger = rush

    castle = "turtle" ... strong defensively

    builder = favors building stuff rather than breaking stuff. Not suited for militarism (at least not as much as other civs)

    choke = warfare designed to wreck an opponent's economy, or (if early enough) simply prevent the creation of any economy to speak of. Typically means sending units that are excellent defensively (such as the Mali skirmisher) over to your opponent's land and parking those units on resources.

    Sledge = long buildup to a massive, overwhelming assault. The Dagger is quick and precise, but can't get through heavy armor (castle). The Sledge is slow, costly... but bashes through tough defenses.
