I believe if one participant has alphabet, both get the trade benefit.
One of these days I'll make 501 posts, and you won't have to look at my silly little diplomat anymore.

It's kinda strange, but if you have alphabet, the other civ's can attempt to tech trade with you, but not other civ's if they don't have alphabet themselves.

I usually try and hold on to alphabet as long as possible as it tends to keep the tech trading sorta one sided. I try and get as many other techs from them as possible before trading alphabet (if at all).

But if a civ offers enough for it...........
I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

            well, what about Monarchy?

I am way ahead but am lacking Monarchy (obviously). Or should I hold out? He's actually three or so techs behind but refused when I asked for monarchy for the other two techs (poly and writting I think).

I'd hold out - but don't necessarily take my word for it.

Lets just say Praetorians are my favorite form of diplomacy

I'd check to see what techs the other AIs are missing. If it's the same stuff that Cyrus is missing, then there's obviously less risk in trading Alphabet.

I try to not trade that until I'm WAY ahead.

Darn! I gave it to him and now he's a step ahead of me in tech (according to Herodotus).

But we are both behind Mansa, Qui and someone I have not met yet.

Okay - in my opinion it is time to pull out some time honoured diplomacy tools.

                          They would be:

                          Axemen

                          Swordman

                          Catapults

                          Etc etc

I've got Guilds (abt. 5 turns left) and Const. to get and then I can start bashing someone. I gotta find someone I can beat that's not too far away as to make it worthwhile.

The Incans are just to the north, I think it's gonna be them unless I can find someone that's already mad at me and make them declare war on me. Hmm, maybe Isabella would fall for it, she's pretty pissed.

It's always fun to mess with Isabella because she definetely is the b*tch of the leaders, as she always gets pissed at everyone for doing anything.

Put her in a cage and throw things at her.
