Ahh thats a relief, this thread was making me feel like a geezer (over 35) until your post. I think that most of the apolyton regulars are adults, but who knows?? I do remember getting massively flamed a couple years ago for a quip about "teens with short attention spans"...

There's one in Canada as well, in Ontario. There used to be a Berlin as well, but the citizens became so angry at the Germans during WWI that they changed the name to Kitchener. And I used to live in London, Ont.

Prussia, What do you think of the latest #3 threat? Use the internet if you don't have Comedy Central right now.

I started playing Civ when I was 9, now I'm 21, wow, over half now for Civ!
First Master, Banan-Abbot of the Nana-stary, and Arch-Nan of the Order of the Sacred Banana.
Marathon, the reason my friends and I have been playing the same hotseat game since 2006...

I see the House of Representatives is holding hearings about video games. Click on Player Haters here.

Apparently, Congressman Joe Barton is a keen fan of Civilization IV - "I have worked my way up to Civilization IV. I haven't yet been able to beat it, but I at least understand the fundamentals of it".

In other news, John Adams is being sent to Baghdad, where he is to create a great work, ending the resistance there and extending American cultural boundaries.

              Saw that HoR thing yesterday...

"A poor kid who lives in a neighbourhood where people really do steal cars, do drugs or kill cops may not be so fortunate. There's almost certainly going to be a kid whose going to be hurt by this game, maybe his dad's in jail or his brother's on the corner dealing drugs."

Yeah the game, and not his social lot, is to blame if he turns to crime when his dad and brother are in jail or commiting crime.
One day Canada will rule the world, and then we'll all be sorry.

The was probably in response to you providing no frame of reference in your post.

So far this thread has talked about at least 8 distinct topics I can think of off the top of my head. "What do you think of #3 threat" doesn't help.

                    #3 threat what?

Did you know it's not even supposed to be a real show?

They were doing spoof segments and one had Colbert berating people in complete disregard of facts and common sense.

Next thing he knew Jon has an e-mail from a CC exec asking what the production schedule for this new show is going to be like! He tried to explain that it's not a real show but a spoof of the CNN-esque shows that have pundits on who will argue insane theories (like video games cause crime) with no regard for reality.

The exec loved it and submitted a budget for it.

That show is bound to go down in history as the most brilliant misunderstanding in TV history.

Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just passing on the truthiness.

I still don't understand what you're referring to.
                        You mean group C?

Since USA got eliminated and Austria is not even in the World Cup, I now officially have no idea what-so-ever of what he is talking about.

(First round too. Not even a single win. The best we did was a tie. How sad.)

Germans LOVE Ami TV. I watched "Sex in the City" with my (female) suitemate frequently. I watched "South Park" often, as well. It's one of the few well-translated American shows.

And they dig "the Daily Show" (if their English is good enough to catch the sometimes subtle humor... much of Stewart's touch is lost). They even have a HORRENDOUS version of their own. How bad you ask? Here is a sample joke:

"Die Leute wollen mehr GELD, nicht Mer-KEL."

Despite golden eras of cabaret and vaudeville, German comedy never quite made the transition to radio and television. Another reason to put George Burns on the Great Artist list. I think many American's don't understand just how much comedy has changed in the last century.

(Having said that, Berlin is one of the few places in the Western world where you can still see true vaudeville performances. But that is well out of most American's range of taste. We're all Napoleon Dynamites now...)
