1.61 patch

When I downloaded and tried to install this patch, it said that I didn't even have a version of CivIV on the machine! What's up with this? Bear in mind that I have played at least 50 games and also have put in every patch up to this point. Any ideas?

Maybe something's wrong with your registry and it can't find the installation details there.

I know it's a pain, but uninstalling and then reinstalling is always a good thing to try in situations like this.
