  • The Temple of Artemis REVEALED!

The good folks at IGN have some new Warlords info for you today:

"First up is the Temple of Artemis. One of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, this massive Greek temple was built in Ephesus over 2500 years ago. Players can build the wonder themselves once they've research Polytheism. At that point the city that holds the Wonder will see a two-fold increase in trade and gain an extra priest specialist for free. The Temple becomes obsolete upon the discovery of Chemistry."

Sounds like a pretty solid wonder. It should nicely complement just about any player's strategy.

You can also view the new wonder movies for ToA and the Great Wall here:

They are quite well done. You really have to love the Great Wall video.

While I'm not a fan of rapidly expanding wonder lists and the resulting devaluing of each wonder (do we really need Broadway, Hollywood and Rock 'n Roll?), including some of the actual wonders of the world is cool

Clearly, you do not play to win culturally. When you have to have three cities with first-rate culture, +50% in each of them goes a long way. (Yeah, you can build cathedrals, but only if you use a gather-religion strategy.)

Does a two-fold increase in trade mean that your commerce from trade routes is doubled for that city, or that all base commerce is doubled for that city?

The Temple of Artemis video looks a lot like the Parthenon video.

Sounds like a potantially strong wonder.

Heh, k, apologies if he's renowned for that. As you can see from my warlord status, I don't pop in here terribly often, although when I do it usually comes in a wave of a couple weeks, kinda like my Civ playing.

Nevermind, I was confusing the Statue of Liberty with the Colossus.
