  • Theory: Expanded Civ IV with Alpha Centauri II

As some of you might remember, there was an expansion set called: "The Test of Time" for Civ II. In this you could settle other planets. But this game failed on many levels.

So far, so good: What do you think of the idea, that Firaxis could develop a second edition of Alpha Centauri (with graphics polished up to date of course), that would give you the posibility to expand your Civ IV game in Alpha Centauri II, meaning: Leaders, Units and so on, that being put in the spaceship to Alpha Centauri in Civ IV would colonize Alpha Centauri in "Alpha Centauri II"? Is this idea too whacked? What do you think? Or has this been discussed centuries ago in this forum? Enlighten me.

      NO NO NO NO NO

Alpha Centauri II should be a dedicated project. Not a tacked on expansion of Civilization IV.

Firaxis already has plans to make Alpha Centauri 2 - or at least that's what the fans want. Of course they are going to make something else first.

They are about to release a railroad game, and are doing a 'CivCity'-style thing too, if I am not mistaken.

In terms of popularity among us non-sci fi commoners/plebs I'd say Alpha Centauri ranks a few places below a railroad simulator.

Alpha Centauri is for those days in which there's no proper civ game to play. In other words: not now.
