  • Which UU is the best???

I came to the conclusion that the UU of each civilization weight as much as its traits and as a result the UU of each civ plays a major part in making the selection of which civ to play with.

As far as i am concerned...playing on monarch difficulty i vote the Immortal the value of which i just recently discovered..The bonus vs archers and immunity to first strikes combined with the 2 movement points is awesome (especially since the ai uses mostly archers to defend its cities).

Let's find out which one is the best or at least the most popular....

I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Would be better if you did - just remember to include a banana option - it may seem strange, but you will find it much easier if you do.

The praetorian is a fine choice but what if there is no iron around??...which gives value to UU's that dont need resources like the Jaguar or the camel archer...
It really hurts when you are playing caesar or toku without iron

Cossacks, they have a long enough shelf life and can chew up calvary.

Can't really go wrong with Praetorians, but there are other good ones around.

I like Samurai. Though I typically don't play the civs b/c I don't like the traits, the Immortals and Conquistadors seem like excellent units. There is also something to be said for the no-resource Camel Rider. I know I loathe the Keshik when it's used against me.

And then, of course, there is the fast worker. It's really difficult to try and measure, but I tell ya, turn advantage is a powerful thing and the fast worker helps give you that.

The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

                        My picks:

Fast Worker - the only UU that is useful throughout the entire span of the game.

Praetorian - well, it's hard to mess up if you have these.

Cossack - an awesome unit that can beat any contemporary unit.

Cossack. They have the advantage of appearing at a point where my production is strong enough to pump them out if needed. And unlike Praetorians and the lack of iron problem mentioned above, there is plenty of time in the game to position or battle for horses (trading for horses is too iffy) far prior to their appearance.

I like the fast worker. I don't have to spend as much time building workers (and slowing growth) because I don't need as many. And as has been noted, they're useful for the whole game.
