I'm playing a game where I just discovered Theology and entered the medieval era, and it's only 1690 BC. Anyone else gotten this far advanced this early?
Its fairly possible to do this by burning a Great Prophet or the Oracle and having Monotheism and its prereqs, along with meditation and polytheism. Snarfing up three or four of the early religions is a good strat for winning a culture victory. 1690 BC is pretty early in any event to found Christianity, even with a GP or Oracle.
It is completely irrelavant what other technologies you do or do not have since you enter the Medieval Age as soon as you aquire either Theology or Feudalism. Take a look at the color-coded tech tree on the poster that came with Civ4. I think that you "enter" an Age as soon as you get ANY tech that is coded for that Age.
