  • Larger Battles

People have been clammering for it as far back as Civ 2. This post is both to show that you would like the idea of battles involving multiple units, and suggestions on how it should be done.

Don't! One unit at a time, like it has been.

Units in varying proportions get bonuses, but combat plays out much the same (IE axe men and archers get a bonus Vs just axemen)

Mass battles with animation, there is no stratigic or mechanical diffrence, but when you attack all the units pair off and fight till only one remains in a cool animation.

Stratigic! Not only do the units all show up, but you can give commands that influence them! Either mostly hands off, turn based combat (X-com anyone?), or real time.

I would like CIV to go into First Person Shooter mode whenever a battle is taking place involving my troops so that I can go around like a commando single-handedly blowing all the enemies up with my plasma gun and rocket launcher.

You still haven't learned... a poll needs the banana option

I don't care about neither of the poll options, but I still want to see the results... and the "show results" link just doesn't "do it" for me

Personally I don't have an opinion on multiple units battles. How it was done in ctp was ok, but the single unit battle is just as good... but maybe I'll change my mind, if someone makes a real good mod

There's actually a point with having a banana option

The bannana option would encourage people to vote bannana. If people vote bannana, they dont vote for other options. If that is the case, the results are off because obviously a bannana option will never be put in the game. This is my offical response to the bannanas. I will never put them in a serious poll for this reason.

Jokes over, I can apperciate humor, I make jokes, I laugh at jokes. This joke has run its course with me at least, I would apperciate it if you stoped filling my threads with needless bannana related spam.

I know a gardening tool the lot of you can sit on. Its used to gather loose leaves. I think you know where I am going with this.

You just don't get it... the banana option is not just a joke option, it's just a way to say "I don't care for any of the poll options"... if at least your polls had that option, I could accept it

All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

The way they had it CTP worked well in my opinion. and it made sense. The only problem was the real time retreat option. You should be able to retreat at certain points in the battle, but not in real time.

I just wonder why they got rid of armies. It seemed like a step backwards. I still would like individual unit battles, but with the ability to form armies in some cases. The hard part is getting the AI to use armies effectively.

And of course armies should work better than in civ3.

I'd mainly like all the positive aspects of all the units to apply to the total strength score. So if you have archers in your army, you get first strike etc. And if you have units to balance out the negatives, there should be no negatives. For instance, if you had infantry you wouldn't lose defensive bonus' for your cavalry. But if you had no infantry, then you'd still lose the defense bonus. This would encourage well rounded armies instead of armies of just fast units as in civ3.

In my copy of Civ4 there is a bannana option - it is one of the new resources.
