  • Newbie questions, round 3

More questions for you guys and gals.

    1. In the domestic advisor screen (which is shockingly lacking in interactivity compared to many of the others) to what does the first "TOT" in the list refer?

    2. For the Forbidden Palace wonder, what radius of tile area does "nearby" mean when it says the wonder "reduces maintenance in nearby cities"? It's kind of critical to know so I can decide in exactly which city to build it.

    3. Combat. In the earlier part of the game where I'm still using archers and that sort of thing, I can take a stack of my units and attack a city using the "all units" control option. However, I'm now using modern units like soldiers, etc., and the game isn't letting me do that any longer. I have to select each individual unit and attack with each in turn (it won't allow me to move the whole stack). What am I missing here?

    1. Not that I remember, but it should be either total Great People points, or total Culture.

    2. The description is misleading. Essentially, maintenance is CityDistanceMaintenance + NumCitiesMaintenance. CityDistanceMaintenance depends on proximity to capital - the further away, the bigger it is. The Forbidden Palace acts like another capital, that is, cities closer to it get a smaller CityDistanceMaintenance, but there's nothing like a fixed tile radius in which cities are cheaper.

    3. I'm not sure at all. Do you have the stack combat option enabled? If yes, you should be able to select all units, order an attack, and the game will automatically perform attacks with your units...

      3. When doing attack all units in the stack should have movement points left and also be able to attack.

Remove any units with no movement points, by reselecting the stack - they wont be included. Also make sure there are no workers or machine gunners in the stack.

<alt><left click> will allow you to select all the units in a stack.
