I take it that means there will be a further Civ IV patch, and not simply that Warlords will include 1.61?

Ok, now I've finally read the interview, not much news, but as I expected

The Great Wall (?) in the screenshots looks interesting
This space is empty... or is it?

Hey, looks like a bunch of new screenshots up at IGN too, including a couple portraying what has to be the new Warlord unit!

I thought this screen from Gamespot was interesting as well:

It appears Donghai is building a unit called a Polearm II. Now, it may be cleaned up later (since it is an alpha build), but new unit?

                    From IGN:

Look on the top left... looks like the Greek Warlord.

This is a guess, but that first screenie is more likely from a scenario, where there would be a progression of similar tech units (similar to the different kinds of Praetorians in the Fall of Rome scenario in Civ3 Conquests).

Yeah, but we don't have a Polearm in CivIV... unless they changed the name of the Spearman.

You'd expect scenarios to have some different units, wouldn't you?

I would like to know how the Great Wall works. From the looks of it it establishes itself along your cultural borders as of the turn of its construction, but what benefits does it give?

My choice on benefits would be for it to give a 50% defender bonus for anybody attacking across it, and it would take a unit's full turn to cross it even with roads (representing how the Wall was intended not so much to keep enemies out as to keep them from being able to run away as the Chinese armies pinned them).
Those who live by the sword...get shot by those who live by the gun.

Obviously, the Great Wall will give +3 gold per turn due to tourism.

Wrong. It yields +4.5 to blisters. It's called the GREAT wall for a reason. One heck of a long walk.
