error at init engine and the screen back to desktop.

my pc spec:
AMD Sempron(tm) processor
2500+
1.41 GHz
512 MB of RAM
Windows XP (service pack 2)

GeForce FX 5200
128MB

the error says:

Sid Meier's Civilization 4 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

it happens when the loading reach to 'Init Engine', the loading will stop and this massage appear.

actually before this i'm able to play the game, but it is so slow and sometimes it hang with a massage of 'low virtual memory'. than i uninstall the game and format my HD, after reinstall it back, that is what happen, it stop at Init Engine.

i have try install the Patch 1.61, and before that i try the Patch 1.52, but it still doesn't work. hope u can help me, i'm dying to continue the game i've saved...thanx
