  • Automatic Disposition

I noticed that Montezuma, and probabally others, have an automatic disposition. Montezuma is Annoyed at Cyrus, and Pleased with Alexander, but his relations with both are +1 for years of peace and neigher has any negatives.

Anyone else notice this? And why is it like this?

Well, both Monty and Alex are psychopaths, so maybe he feels they have much in common.

There is a line in the AI personality code which determines how much that AI likes warmongers. Montezuma is the leader with the most respect for warmongers, and thus likes Alexander more than Cyrus.

They both want to dominate the world though, so wouldn't they hate eachother?

EVERY leader wants to conquer the world, they just have different ways of doing it. Warlike leaders are going to have more respect for those who see things the same way.

Certian leaders have a funny way of showing that... namely Gandhi.

Gandhi leaves you pathetic warmongers fighting here with early gunpowder units, while he's landing on Alpha Centauri.

But yeah, Montezuma can actually get along with other psychos quite well. Which is bad for you if it happens. Generally, it's better for everyone if Montezuma gets an early beating and thus becomes less of a threat - if he developes well and gains an ally, he can become too fearsome.

What I'd like to see, if Monty comes and demands something (he is never in good enough terms to just ask it, politely), and I flatly refuse, there'd be a chance, that it would cause a +1 in relations... "I see you have grown some balls since we last met. Respect, yo."

Or "grown some backbone", should you be playing as a female leader...

Haul Monty out as early as possible. Fortunately for you, he likes to waste his hammers on that crappy UU of his.

Monty is always number 1 on my hit list, followed shortly thereafter by Alex. Civ 4 makes one appreciate just how peace loving the Germans really are.
