  • Great person.. "Discover Technology" doesn't work!!!!!!

You know i figured with 1.52 this was an obvious enough bug that someone MUST HAVE posted about it... but i guess not. I've had this issue for awhile.. and maybe its just with certain specific people (ie engineer, but not religious great person). I decide that "yea i need to catch up on research" press the "discover tech." button and NOTHING HAPPENS. I still have to research the tech.. nothing pops up about it or anything. Plus it still has to be researched even though it said it would discover it for me.. this has happened a number of times for me... most recently robotics.. and it DEFINATELY happened.. i remember having to research it after thinking 2 turns ago my great person just got it for me. WHATS THE DEAL? Anyone else have similar problems? please post below.

For many techs later in the game the 'discover technology' option for great people doesn't fully discover the technology, but just gives you a large research boost to said technology. For example, a great engineer will have the option 'Discover technology: Robotics (5000)'. This means that it would contribue 5000, or whatever number of research points, to that technology. If you're not currently researching said technology you'll see no effect, but it will be quicker to research when you start researching it. If you are researching the technology it'll be fairly obvious that a good amount of research time was taken off.

In the latter stages, the GP doesn't generate enough beakears to fully discover a tech.
They will just bring you closer towards it.

The discover tech button does not necessarily discover the tech for you all it does is place a certain amount of beakers toward the discover of the tech. This is not a bug. Hover over the discover tech button and it will tell you how many beakers it will give you.

I think the "Discover tech" button simply gives you certain amount of beakers towards the tech. In later game, it might not be enough to discover the tech right away, but gives you a good head start.
