  • Interesting Patch effect on PBEM game.

I have been playing a PBEM since either shortly before or just after the 1.09 patch. One other player and 2 AI's.

We have updated the PBEM thru all the patches since with no problem. Neither one of us used a password.

Then I update to 1.61 yesterday and play the turn. The date jumps from 200AD to 350 AD. After I played and saved.

Just thought I would mention this. All else seems the same.

Hmm, turns decreased? What game rate?

      From the 1.61 notes...

      - Timelines more uniform across game speeds
You were playing at something other than Normal, right? Before 1.61 when playing on Marathon, the technology didn't mesh very well with the year...I know on Noble I usually started getting Cavalry around 1500 AD, with the AI not far behind. Looks like they adjusted the number of years per turn, probably making it stay at 10 turns per year for longer or something like that.

The year distribution over the turns has changed on some gamespeeds. The game stores the number of turns played, not the game year. You still have the same number of turns to finish the game, it's just the display of the year that has changed.

Thanks Locutus, that must be it, I can't for the life of me remember what speed this PBEM was set at but that must be it.
