Is there any reason to go for a conquest victory rather than a domination victory on a large map? Isn't it always better to keep the cities and grow rather than burn them down?

I really enjoy conquest as the only victory condition occasionally.
Sometimes unleashing the hyordes is more fun than building cities and trade networks etc
(But of course only when you are winning )I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.

Conquest, if you actually manage to pull it off, is a satisfying victory. You haven't merely asserted your Civ into unquestioned leadership over the world, you have crushed all opposition beneath your heel
And, by the end of it, if you don't have some named units with more promotions than you can shake a stick at, I would be very surprised.O'Neill: I'm telling you Teal'c, if we don't find a way out of this soon, I'm gonna lose it.
Lose it. It means, Go crazy. Nuts. Insane. Bonzo. No longer in possession of one's faculties. Three fries short of a Happy Meal. WACKO!

Conquest can actually be easier as well as more fun, because you do not have the horrific management costs which will absolutely destroy your civ if you expand rapidly (especially before you can switch to State Property). The money you get from looting and destoying cities keeps cash up so you can have 100 or 90 percent research. Also, you don't get the war weariness from the conquered populace to cause problems.

And now with Complete Kills it is even more funI don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life - anybody's life, my life. I agree sometimes - usually when the AI is more powerful than meI don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before.
