I kind of feel using the various graphs, demographics and statistics border on cheating. Don't know whether you can beat your neighbour? Look at the power graph. Want to know if you have a chance at a space race victory? Check the demographics screen to see if your economy is competetive. Nothing can be kept secret, even in the most isolationist civ.

How about there was a 'no stats' mode where statistics and demographics are unavailable? That might help make the game a little less predictable and build tension!

Even with comparable or superior military might, you can't plan for that psychic enemy fighter pilot who has the unerring capability to take out your 'Stealth' Bombers. A graph doesn't tell the whole story, and it doesn't show you where your invasion plans might fail, that much is left to ye olde grey matter

The stats doesn't tell you if everything you need to know about the enemy. In my current game, the Americans had 3x - 4x as much in power than me (playing Prince), but I still managed to take them out (also their tech was about the same as mine)
This space is empty... or is it?

How about you just don't check your graphs?

That's just basic realism. In history you always have a rough approximation of your rivals' economic and military powers.

              yeah, what he said.

actually, I always forget to check them. . The only one I check regularly is military to make sure I'm not lagging to far behind (which I usually am).

I'm fairly certain the AI's use them too given their propensity to declare war on weak military powers. So it doesn't seem like cheating if everyone gets them. Plus stats are fun.

                    I'd like more statistics.

I'd like to be able to pick a specific enemy civ and see their exact statistics in every category, rather than just having only 'rival best' and 'rival worst' displayed.

Yeah, I forget to check them all the time too... hehe.

Usually, I'll only check them if a Civ is wanting to trade a tech and I can't see the normal score graph because the trade window is up.

I'm far more hesitant to trade tech or anything with Civs more powerful than me - unless I'm getting something that will save me a ton of time/resources.

I'd definitely like an option to hide the 'score' from the bottom right corner without making phoning a friend so painful.

                            Need stats.

You get minimal info at best from the power graph and misleading at times. A civ can have very powerful advanced units and not show up as powerful as one that has many obsolete units. Even ancient civs had spies. Didn't Harold have spies checking on the ships of William the Conquering Bastard? Moses sent Joshua and Caleb and 10 losers into Caanan to spy out the land.

The AI civs know everything about your civ, so how can the limited info we get be considered an advantage? No one goes to war without counting the cost.
