  • Factors influencing Missionary Success (?)

I've definitely noticed that the 6th and 7th religions in a city are a lot harder to spread than the earlier ones.

But this current game I'm in, it also seems that spreading my state religion (which is now all over the place) or the other equally widespread religion, fails more often than spreading the other five less pervasive religions.

What factors (besides the RNG!) determine missionary success or failure?

How many religons are already in the city, then it has a lower chance I think.(Pretty sure)

For cities that belong to your team the formula to calculate the percentage that a religion will spread is the following:

      40 + (Total Religions - City Religions) * 60 / Total Religions

For cities belonging to a different team, the formula is:

      20 + (Total Religions - City Religions) * 80 / Total Religions

Where Total Religions is the total number of religions in the game (i.e. 7 by default) and City Religions is the number of religions already in the city. For the default game this means it breaks down as follows:

      Code:
      Chance to spread
      # in city	team city	non-team city
      0 100% 100%
      1 91% 89%
      2 83% 77%
      3 74% 66%
      4 66% 54%
      5 57% 43%
      6 49% 31%
The rest is up to the RNG gods
