  • Civ2 style map ?

Hi, i was just wondering if and what map mode to use to get a map like the style of the Civ2 random maps.

I really enjoyed the Civ2 maps, as they really where random (even if it did mean starting on a single cell island :P)

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what you mean here, the maps for Civ 4 are random.

Yeah, but by default there were no different map types in Civ2, you would always get normal land mass/climate/temperature/age and a mix of continents and archipelago (although you could set these things in the advanced options). I think that's what SMIFFGIG means. Probably the key here is the mix between continents and archipelago, by default Civ4 doesn't have that option AFAIK, it's either one or the other.

I think SmartMap might offer what you want, if you use a high-ish fraction count as land type (there's a more detailed explanation of the options at CFC). If that's not what you want, you'll probably have to define a new maptype yourself, as there aren't too many mapscripts out there (which probably has something to do with the relative high difficulty of defining completely new ones).
