  • Custom Guys

For those of you who play custom guys (traits and starting techs) What do you use?

I use Philosophical and Industrious, and I start with Argiculture and the wheel.

I do this because phil and ind work with each other, ind lets me build wonders faster which allows me to get higher great people numbers, and phil makes the great people come faster. And then Argiculture and Wheel because it goes into a tech strategy I have. Produce just enough warriors to stop people from going to war with you, and get pottery, writing, and then alphabet as your first 3 techs. You then have a monopoly on tech trading (never trade alphabet) which will last a long time.

What about the rest of you?

There's a reason Ind/Phi isn't a canonical combination. Can you guess what it is?
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

      Philosophers aren't very good laborers?

      What is it?

If I could choose my starting techs I would take Mysticism and Agriculture with any Fin leader (yes Inca is my favorite civ) or Mysticism and Mining with anyone else.

Agriculture and Wheel would also be powerful as a Fin, but I like an early religion for culture (I don't adopt it as state unless playing on >= Emperor), and it also helps slingshot.

But I think custom leaders are lame, especially Phi/Ind, since apart from having zero basis in reality it's also cheesy gameplay-wise.

Philisophical/Industrious would be potentially the most powerful combination in the game, and would probably unbalance things in its favor.
Those who live by the sword...get shot by those who live by the gun.

            But I would prefer Creative/Organized.
            Best regards,

That is also not a realistic combination. Organization stifles creativity.
