  • So I'm getting a new computer...

And I must say that part of the reason is CivIV (but that's just a small part).

What are the most importants specs to look at in regards to the game? I know that the Video Card is hugely important, so I'll be getting on with Radeon.

Now, does it matter what processor I get? I'm looking at Pentium Ds.

What else should I keep in mind?

Oh, and I don't plan on paying more than 600 (minus the monitor)

If you're looking for a dual core now, you will want to go with AMD, it's more powerfull and uses less power so there is no reason to buy a Pentium D. And Intel will release a new, much improved, dual core (the Conroe) this summer, so you should run away from the Pentium D like Dracula from the cross.
Or wait until the summer, and get it for cheap, when people try to dump them to make room for the Conroe.

Memory is very important. The game seems to hog it.

1Gb of dual channel is what to aim for in a gaming PC these days.

And don't be fooled by the uber-1337 people, many more people than Consair do memory.

As for dual core, thats expensive territory and not entirely worth it IMHO, as most applications don't fully support it, so you'd find yourself turning off one CPU or putting up with your sound and video out of sync.

I reccommend an AMD in any case, single core, 64 bit. You can pick up a single core 4000+ for a lot less than a dual core and it'll be a lot more stable.
