okay I'm going to try a game as this. I haven't tried one since civ3 ptw. But this game plays much quicker than civ3, so it shouldn't take too long hopefully.

I've always wanted to do a gangbang on the ai. Esp. on Catherine. . So in my case, I will work together against the AI. I will play a higher difficulty level to compensate.

I gave that game up, it sucked. And some annoying bugs as well. I built stonehenge, and every time the german turn came up, the view was all zoomed out just what happens after you build stonehenge. Not to mention the units move so slow.

And my poor English were second to last place. They didn't do so well.

Well, it least you tried something new. Yeah, Stonehenge is supposed to "center the map." On some PC's and especially if there's a bug in the hot seat programing, it doesn't surprise me you would end up looking at the world from Pluto.

Everybody, including me, shut up for most of the winter (it's winter in the northern hemisphere, by the way,) about how "buggy" this game is. I guess we figured we already paid, might as well enjoy its good features as best we can.

With rumors of a new patch, the furor over the original ripoff has started again. I was linked over on a thread from here that has since been pulled, to a CivFanatics thread about it, (I guess they've got about three, concerning a supposedly impending new patch.) The rhetoric and vitriol against Firaxis and 2K were violent in the extreme, far more so than I've personally felt, though this thing still runs sh-tty plus on my machine, requiring weekly temp-file flushing and rebooting. I've been told I need a new video card just for this. No, No!

They also dropped the tidbit over at CF that 2K is on the brink of bankruptcy (supposedly why they rushed production,) which begs the question who's going to do the expansions and/or Civ5?

Oh, by the way, Ages of Man plays great on mine. Don't have to disconnect a thing or clean up afterward. No muss, No fuss!

actually played this way again on a lower difficulty level. It takes a while.

And it just wasn't that interesting a game. I actually helped myself with the research. As no tech trading I found boring my first time. I basically gave myself a challenge to how early I could beat the game. And I won very early. I was way ahead of the AI. The only interesting part of the game was near the beginning when my English were getting pounded on both sides by Napoleon and the Aztec. The aztecs just kept attacking me for no apparant reason (other than we were close neighbors). I eventually wiped them out which sent my score soaring past my german human player.

I still had a bug on the zoom level, but it went away after 10 or 20 turns. I didn't even build stonehenge. This time it came when I researched calender. But at least it went away. But my german units still default on slow movement, even though the options are on fast move. But this was not the case with the English units. But I noticed a few things I never noticed before. Like the animation great scientists make when building academies or joining the city as a great scientist.

I also found out you can gift a great engineer from one civ to another.

I think the second player ends up starting off the game with default settings instead of the custom player settings. At least that's certainly true in regard to right click behavior. (I normally play with right click menu on.) But if I go into the settings as player 2 at the beginning of the game and uncheck and re-check right click menu, I get the setting I want.
