Help!

Hey, hopefully someone out there on Apolyton knows what's wrong, but I can't load Civ IV for no (apparent) reason. I loaded the game as I normally do and this morning (well around 2 am) this is the message I recieve...

"Initialize renderer failed, check DirectX installation, latest Graphics Drivers and Graphics settings paramters:

What the hell does that all mean?
