civ 4 start (DVD) problem

i cannot access to my civ 4 dvd directly after inserting.
i see a cd-dvd icon on the mouse curser. autostart is not working - i cannot access via directory path - i cannot start the game.
after about 15-20 min civilisation starts by autostart.
this problem lasts since i have got the game including installation.
no deamon tools or related installed.

do you know any solution for this annoying problem?

Isn't the disk damaged/scratched/something?

Maybe you can fix it by turning off certain programs running on your computer. I am not sure which one(s), though.

the dvd is perfectly all right and behaved so from the beginning.

before installing civ4 my win-xp was a virgin. no prg. installed and running.

Yes, that remedy is certainly a possible step .

Other than that, a good question would be, is Civ4 the only game DVD to behave in such a way on your computer?

it is the first dvd i have a problem with.
i donot play other games on from dvd.
civ3 on cd makes no problem.
