What is the farseer?

Well it's not a sea-farer at least but I'm struggling to figure this one out. Initially I assumed that it was probably the Oracle but now I've read Farseer and Oracle in the same paragraph.

I'm confused?

Farseer is using the Oracle to pick up Metal Casting. The name isn't particullary descriptive, I guess it was just the first slingshot strategy and thus got dibs on farseer.

I always thought the name Farseer came because it gave you a big leg up on getting to Optics.
