crash on start up

Well, I was playing the game late last night - fell asleep with the game running. Today I cannot get the game to load - crashes to desktop when loading - the music is garbled in the background, and the civ4 tab is open but when opened goes to a blank screen for 2-3 secs then crashes back to desktop.

I Have spent all morning following all the hints to fix issues and nothing has helped.

Any help would be happly accepted

well got fed up deinstalled - reinstalled and it works fine, why is the dang thing so flaky?

You could have tried clearing the cache first.
