  • Relationship Manipulation?

Anyone have strategies for manipulating the relations of others? Say if you are friendly with a Civ and getting them to attack another Civ would help you out. But they won't because they are friends. There any way to work at dropping the relations between the two?

Be the first to both Theology and Code Of Laws. Spread Confucianism to one and Christianity to the other. (Any pair of religions would do the trick.)
Participating in my threads is mandatory. Those who do not do so will be forced, in their next game, to play a power directly between Catherine and Montezuma.

But what about you... you will be in the between and you gotta choose one as your alliance

Choose the religion of your ally if that's what you're doing. It's difficult late game to force alliances and such (Since alliances seem almost permanent).

Things that I know will give them negatives:
        1. Defensive Pacts (If they don't have one with the one you want to ally with)
        2. Differing religions (Hard to change if they have their own religion, but doable, and impossible if they have free religion)
        3. If possible get one to declare war on the other's ally.
