  • One turn I thought I could keep up with the Emperor AI....

Finally I got all the techs the AI got!
I could trade them all for divine right, which was only discovered by two civs yet........

Open the save file and see it for yourself, all civs have the same techs as I have. Nothing to trade.
    Then dare to press enter..........
And then try to trade with them again, they're suddenly all fully loaded with brand new techs.........

Where did they get those techs from? This is really too much

    (rename the extension to .civ4savedgame
poly won't let me attach files with that extension)
    (which should be fixed )

Can't test it - says something about it being protected...
"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

He must have selected the no cheating option when setting the game up.

When you trade for techs, in that turn you may ONLY trade for 1 tier of techs. So if you needed civil service and code of laws, You could only trade for code of laws on that one turn... On the next turn you may then trade for civil service. That is what you are seeing.

They already had those techs that you see the next turn. You were however not alowed to trade for them.

I don't think the no cheating option has anything to do with that, I thought the no cheating option just disables the worldbuilder, you can reload however much you want, though.

Sounds like it is what Hauptman says, for instance if the AIs have CS and CoL and you don't have either. In that case you won't be even able to see if the AIs have CS until you get CoL. Happens to me when I trade for a tech like Mathematics that opens up a lot of new tech options.

.civ4savedgame does upload to poly corectly, I do it all the time. Now if you put in a comma or period or another 'illegal' character into the saved game name, now poly doesn't like that and may not let you upload it.

Ok, it isn't the file type, but for your file I got the error:

"The file that you have tried to attach is too big. The maximum size is 500000 bytes."

Your file appears to be too big.

Can you host it somewhere else?

I'm using one or two simple mods indeed. I forgot which mods. And yes, I have 'no cheating' selected.

So are you saying the game engine decided you'd caught up too much and rewarded all the AI with bonus techs? I think Lord Shiva is right - and i refuse to believe that the Firaxians programmed something as insulting to Civ players as an artificial tech buffer. It would imply its impossible to get ahead on tech at Emporer level and above. I for one won't be playing that game again!
                            regards,

                            Peter

Either that's the wrong way around or it's not the issue, because I'm certainly using NTFS:
