  • Post Your Great Starts

    I thought there was a thread on great starts, or something similar, but I didn't see it.

    Anyway this recent start was so great I thought I would share it. 5 Gold and Corn at the start.

    The Save 4000 BC

    Difficulty = Prince
    Leader = Asoka
    Map Size = Standard
    Map Type = Continents
    Mode = Marathon
    Opponents = 6

    Time limit is disabled for victory, everything else stands.

    Good lord. And as Asoka too.
    Wrong save though.

      I updated the save, should be correct now. The start is off set by the local neighbors - I've had loads of fun with them thus far.

        I'm pretty fond of this one. I don't have the 4000bc save, but I guess it's easily reconstructed. This is it at the end of the bcs.

        Every tile is bordered by river, plus all those different food sources and luxuries either in the city radius or it's sphere. Perfect for OCC but for the lack of coast.

            Beautiful OCC start scooch. What difficulty is it?

              Whoops, forgot that little tidbit. It's only Prince. I got off to a fantastic start but made some serious mistakes down the stretch and lost to the AI in the space race by 2 thrusters. I need to work on my late game strategy to ride the big tech lead to the end. I'll replay this one later and see if I can improve.

                This one was probably my best (posted it in the CS slingshot thread).

                Prince, Continents, standard across the board. I'm Roosevelt, IIRC:

                It's a monster. If memory serves: 4 floodplains, 2 gold hills, cows and a bundle of other good terrain (forested grassland, forested hills, ect). Good/very good surrounding land too.

                grog want tank...Grog Want Tank... GROG WANT TANK!

                The trick isn't to break some eggs to make an omelette, it's convincing the eggs to break themselves in order to aspire to omelettehood.

                  Silver14,

                  That start is insane!! 5 gold hills. FIVE. I mean... FIVE! With floodplains and corn.

                    This isn't as spectacular as Silver's, but it's definitely above average for me. Difficulty Monarch, Standard size Continents, Standard game length.

                    Save file, 4000 BC.

                    edit: Image problem fixed.

                    Note: that's 1 clam, 1 sheep, 2 gold mines, 1 wine, and 1 marble inside the city radius.

                      Dunno. You have the IMG ... /IMG tags around it?

                      Nice spot, btw.

                        Yeah, I do have the IMG /IMG tags. It just shows up as the address for some reason.

                        I thought 2 gold mines and 2 food sources was good until I saw 5 gold mines.

                          OP has <img src=""> rather than [img][/img]
                          image url goes between the quotation marks

                              Did my use of the regular html tagging mess up the forum tags for the thread?
