  • Global Warming out of control

I apologize if this has already been discussed - I only found a few threads dealing with the issue, and none contained a solution.

I am playing a conquest game in the 25th century and now get global warming pretty much every turn. I've built structures to reduce 'unhealthiness' (e.g., recycling centers) and to increase 'healthiness' (e.g., hospitals) in every city, but global warming has only gotten much worse. No nukes have been fired that I am aware of, and I am not aware of any meltdowns (I imagine the whole world would be informed of both). The world is close to being uninhabitable.

Is there anything that can be done to stop/slow global warming?

    Thanks.

AFAIK global warming only starts when nukes has been fired, but I guess since you're probably playing against AI only, and you haven't fired any nukes, then something else must be playing a role too (the AI doesn't fire nukes)

Powerplants cause global warming. The more ya got, the more things heat up.

I've never had global warming. But then again, I've never played past 2150.

"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

I've only had global warming once, and that was when I fired a few nukes at the AI, shortly after the world was one huge dessert

I've got global warming without any nukes being used, too.

Have you found a way to slow or stop it?

My world is a desert. I have fired 30 nukes, and all my cities have coal plants, so this is understandable, but how can I counter it? Is there any way to do that?

As far as I can tell, there is no way to slow/stop global warming.

I believe nuclear power plants that explode count as a nuke.

Global warming is exceedingly annoying as it is currently constituted, and makes the game unfun. I generally stop playing once it begins to happen.

If you have learnt Fusion, I believe nuclear plants are a safe and better power option than coal plants, hydro plants where you can too, the trouble is though the AI builds whatever it needs and pays no regard to global warming risks, so need to wipe them out 'cleanly' too (no nukes)

What you do is go into the xml files to adjust the warming, or become devoted to a mod that does so, such as:
RevolutionDCM for BTS or the one I use HephMod Beyond ('Beyond' referring to BtS).

I recognize that this is a non-standard response (in that everyone's referring to WITHOUT modding the game), but you are really missing out.
