  • Hrm..World Wrap?

This might seem pretty insignificant, but what happened to world wrap? Some of these custom game selections, like inland sea, have edges, and even a cliff like ledge to suggest you've reached the "end of the world". I know the guys at Firaxis might think thats cute to have a "end of the world" but I don't. I want maps like Inland seas to at least have a option for world wrap.

This is largely a issue because that map style is my favorite to play. In Civ 3 I created a map similar to Inland sea and that was the funnest game I ever had.

It's because those map types aren't suitable as a globe, they are just meant to be part of a world. Also some people like non-wrap maps IIRC.

Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

I understand that, but it would be nice to at least have a option. Inland sea doesn't necessarily have to be "part" of a larger map. A planet could be 80% land surrounding a single, 20% Sea, like Pangea only inverted.

I am looking through the python file now and..um..wow... no notes, no hints, no "sample templates". Smac was way more modder friendly compared to this..

The world is flat. It rides around the stars on the back of a giant turtle.

These maps are just reflecting reality.

There was a thread in which Sirian talked about this:

No Wrap, region of a planet.
            X-and-Y, fantastical.

Look at the climate on Highlands. It's not a whole world, therefore no world wrap. Great Plains, Oasis, Inland Sea... all regional scripts.

Lakes is the only global script that is land-intensive.

Highlands with Y-wrap would defy physics and common sense. I understand your gameplay point, but if you think a shoreline on an oceanic map makes you SAFER on your back side, think again! Coastlines are a particular vulnerability in Civ4.
