  • More custom start options please

I'd like to see the following options added to custom starts:

Reduced Barb presence: (Not none, roughly 1/2 of normal barbs for that difficulty level)

AIs less agressive: (Not always peace), just all AIs on least agressive option for the difficultly level.

And to global maps, an additional sea level option that's 10 to 15% lower than current lowest sea level.

So basically you want to make it really easy?

"You are one of the cheerleaders for this wasting of time and the wasting of lives. Do you feel any remorse for having contributed to this "culture of death?" Of course not. Hey, let's all play MORE games, and ignore all the really productive things to do with our lives.
Let's pretend to be shocked that a gamer might descend into deeper depression, as his gamer "buds," knowing he was killing himself, couldn't figure out how to call 911 themselves for him. That would have involved leaving their computers I guess."

Why would anyone want to make the AI less aggressive than the default setting?

I'll second the reduced barbs option, especially on Epc and Marathon.

Barbs add character, especially with their cities, but sticking units on hills to uncover the fog isn't really fun for me, nor is fighting off wave after wave of Axemen in 2000 BC.

          Axxaer,

Reducing barb presence doesn't just benifit the human, it also benifits the AI.

The AI only gets a slight advantage against most barb units, it's only animals they have a major advantage fighting.

Bill3000, Actually on high levels, it would be more challenging if the AI is less agressive because they won't declare war on each other as often and consequently trade techs more.

The human knows the tricks to get two agressive AIs to fight each other that have different state religions [go no state religion.] The AI seems unaware of this.

Not to mention that on high difficulty levels, it's likely to be the human anyway running no state religion due to being beat out to religious techs.

If spaceship victory is allowed, you can be sure it will be a non aggro civ that grabs it.

The aggressive civs seem to win about one time in three that I play, if their first attack of the game doesn't get a new city then they are normally out of the running forever.

Yeah, I always battle with Asoka, Saladin and their likes for space victory when I play(and on noble I often loose by a few turns too... ).

My vote for custom start options goes to allowing a Random button for world type.

I'd love to not know what the world looks like when I'm born, or that "I'd better rush for Astronomy because I know I'm on an island."

                Just my 2 cents tho'.
